In December 2022, Kehinde Alugo, a hair vendor and founder of Tush Plus Hair Wigs and Accessories, promised her customer Ella Amadi* a refund of N106,000. It was money that Amadi had paid for the production and delivery of three braided wigs.

Nine months later, Alugo has sent Amadi only N49,000 and insists on refunding the balance of N58,000 whenever she sells off all the wigs.

On November 19, Amadi paid N83,000 for a nano-twist and an updo braid wig from Alugo, and a few days later, she paid N23,000 for a braid wig with frontals, making a total payment of N106,000.

However, when Alugo sent Amadi pictures of the wigs she had made, Amadi said they were not the same as the ones she ordered.

“I ordered and paid for the three hair braids through an advertisers.com.ng By ADNG.NG CHEAPEST SOCIAL MEDIA ADS TO TOP FB IG USERS she made on Facebook. But to my surprise, what she made for me was different from what I paid for, which was not acceptable to me,” Amadi said.

“I placed this order on the 19th of November, 2022. She told me she was going to redo them. When she reluctantly sent the pictures to me, they still were not what I ordered. I requested a refund of my money, which she has not done till now.”

Although Alugo agreed to send Amadi a refund, it was on the premise that she must have sold the wigs to someone else.

On January 8, FIJ contacted her to ask if there was a stipulated time frame for Amadi to expect the refund and what would happen if she was unable to sell the wigs.

In response, Alugo said, “I don’t have any stipulated time. Besides, I don’t have issues selling them off because there is nothing wrong with the wigs.”

“It is not in me to make things I can’t sell. If she (the customer) had requested a refund for all the wigs since early December, she would have got some refund by now, if not all.”

It was, however, not until June, six months after Amadi’s request for a refund on December 11, that Alugo sent a partial refund of N48,000 to her.

Four months later, and nine months since the transaction took place, Alugo has yet to fully refund Amadi or give a clear timeline for when to expect the refund.

On Friday, FIJ contacted the hair vendor for a response, and she said she had not completed sales of the wigs and did not have the money to pay back.

“I sold the first wig and sent the money to her. I have yet to sell the rest. So where do you expect me to get the money from?” she wrote to FIJ.

“When I sell the remaining I will send the money to her. Like I did the previous one!” she added.
