The monarch, Amos Obere, was killed by suspected gunmen during a recent attack on the community.

The Commandant of the NSCDC in the state, Dr Muhammad Fari, who paraded the suspects on Wednesday in Lafia, noted that the suspects were apprehended in Loko town in the Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state as a result of intelligence gathered about their activities.

Fari further stated that three other suspected armed robbers paraded alongside the alleged killers were arrested for terrorising the state, he added that the suspects would be charged to court after investigation.

The NSCDC boss said four suspected kidnappers were arrested on Tuesday, while two others were picked up on Wednesday.

Fari stated, “We arrested six suspected kidnappers, who have been terrorising not only the local government area but the entire Nasarawa State.”

To our greatest surprise, the suspects confessed that they had killed a countless number of innocent persons in the state, including the father of a lecturer in the Department of Accounting, Nasarawa State University, Keffi.”

The NSCDC commandant noted that the suspects killed the lecturer’s father, abducted his mother and sister, and demanded N600m as ransom.

He revealed that the suspects also confessed to have murdered the traditional ruler of Odu

One of the suspects identified as Tenimu Okaku, 35, while speaking confessed to having committed the crime, attributing it to the work of the devil.

“So far, I have killed several innocent persons in the state. I also killed some people in Husini in the Udege development area of the state, because one of my brothers was killed by some persons in the area,” Okaku stated.

The lecturer, whose father was killed by the suspects, said the incident happened on December 17, 2018.

He said, “I was in Keffi when I received the shocking news that my father had been murdered by gunmen.”

“The gunmen invaded my father’s residence at Udege and killed him because he came outside to rescue my mother; after the payment of N600,000, they went ahead and kidnapped my mother and sister, and demanded N600m as ransom.”

Another suspect, Muhammed Musa, confessed to killing the lecturer’s father and pleaded for mercy with a promise that he would never be involved in kidnapping again.
