Queen Elizabeth II was reportedly far from happy when she learned about Meghan Markle’s lavish baby shower in New York City earlier this month, a new tabloid report has claimed. However, there is no evidence supporting this rumor.
In the latest issue of In Touch, the tabloid claimed that Queen Elizabeth II was not happy that Prince Harry’s wife had a “$1 million baby shower.” A source claimed in the report that the pregnant Duchess of Sussex “spent $1 million on the lavish six-day trip,” pointing out that the baby shower was held in a $75,000-per-night suite and the food was made by renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. The extravagant celebration was also attended by Markle’s pals and famous personalities like Serena Williams, Gayle King and Amal Clooney.
In Touch’s source further claimed that Markle, who is currently seven months pregnant, spent $250,000 to fly from the U.K. to New York and back in a private jet. The amount of money Markle spent allegedly alarmed Prince Harry’s grandmother, and now the duchess is in “hot water” with the monarch.
“That exorbitant number did not go over well with her grandmother-in-law,” the so-called insider asserted. “[Queen Elizabeth] nearly had a heart attack when she heard about the cost of the trip.”

However, In Touch’s report had several inconsistencies and failed to point out that Markle did not pay for the baby shower expenses with her or the taxpayers’ money. Vanity Fair previously confirmed that Williams covered the $75,000 Manhattan hotel suite bill.
In addition, Markle also did not drop hundreds of thousands of dollars on a private jet as her flight to New York was on a plane owned by a friend from Toronto. And her flight back home was on a private jet that was paid for by George Clooney’s wife, according to Daily Mail.
Most trusted outlets also estimated Markle’s lavish baby shower to have cost around $200,000 to $400,000, not $1 million. Markle and Queen Elizabeth also maintain a close and “genuine” relationship, so it is unlikely that the duchess is in “hot water” with the monarch.
“Meghan and the queen come from two very different backgrounds and generations,” a source previously Us Weekly. “But there’s a warmth between the two that is genuine and loving.”
This isn’t the first time In Touch has published a false story about a member of the British royal family. A previous report from the tabloid claimed that the younger brother of Prince William spent $1 million on his bachelor party.

The real reason Meghan Markle is clashing with the rest of the royal family has been revealed.
The Sun reports that the Duchess of Sussex has become “increasingly frustrated at being told no about many of her ideas”.
Meanwhile People magazine quotes a source as saying that the palace is a place where you hear no often.“The palace is a magical place, and it is also a place where all you hear is ‘no, no, no”.
“The most difficult job in the royal family is to work with Meghan’s ambitions and make them realisable. She will get frustrated if she is told, ‘You can’t do this or can’t do that.”
People also reports that there has been “tensions” within the palace along with a “culture clash”.
